Gentlemen, it all comes down to this. 15 hard-fought weeks to carve out the 4 most worthy teams to vie for the title, now whittled down to two friends, some may even have called them a couple this year, pitted against each other in what will certainly be a passionate battle for the trophy. Here. We. Go.
2025 Apex Fantasy Football League Championship
#2 Austin
Austin's ticket to the championship was punched on draft night, and he clawed out 13 Top 5 scores on the season to march stress-free to the postseason. His success can widely be attributed to the elite stack of QB1 Matthew Stafford and WR1 Puka Nacua, who can lead entire teams to victory by themselves (maybe start Stafford this week, Austin, and leave Jaxson Dart's bum ass on the pine). Sprinkle RB4 Bijan Robinson on top for good measure and Austin's team is primed to take a shot at his 3rd championship trophy, and his first since 2018. Its hard to cheer for Austin, while I am biased becuase he's my blood rival, his team was setup for more success from the get-go, and who doesn't love an underdog story?
#4 John Luke
John Luke's upset of #1 seed and juggernaut Collin was... unexpected to say the least. #1 seeds are 9-5-1 in the first round, though in the last six years they've gone 2-4. Bad era to get the top seed, I guess. John Luke's team doesn't appear to be barn-burners at face value, he finished the season 6th in total points scored, with a 7-8 H2H. Vegas was certainly not giving him favorable odds, but with a chip on thier shoulder, JL's team came out with a vengance. 4 players broke 20 points, including a 32-pointer from Chase Brown to give John Luke not just the win, but the best score of the week. He'll need his elite RB combo of Gibbs and JT to lock in, Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton to try and rival the Stafford-Nacua stack, and error-free lineup management to pull off the upset and claim his 2nd trophy, his first since 2019.
Fun fact, both Austin and JLs last championships came at the expense of Tmo. Lol.
2025 Money Back Bowl
#1 Collin
I joke about TK being cursed (mostly because I somehow seem to be the one that curses him) but Collin may ACTUALLY be cursed. Collin not winning a championship after a wildly impressive 5-year run. Since 2021, Collin has gone 108-42 in H2H and Top5s, coming up with a loss in the championship twice. The odds feel very improbable, but here we are again. Collin will try and salvage the season with a Money Back Bowl to make the journey at least somewhat worth it. His RB duo is the only one that could have rivaled John Luke's, De'Von Achane and CMC (4 of the top 5 RBs were in their game this week... wild) will do thier damage, but Josh Allen only putting up 7 and TreVeyon Henderson leaving early with an injury sunk his dreams. How will he respond? Folding, head held low, and going back to the lab to draw up plans to make another run in 2026, or take out his anger on Mike and beat him into submission?
#3 Mike
Mike flew very much under the radar this year. Collin and Austin dominated the league and the headlines, and JL scraped out the last spot from the hearty gang of window-lickers, and Mike was always kind of just... there? 8-7 H2H record wasn't awe-inspiring, but 10 Top5s and some timely wins landed him comfortably in the playoffs, he just had the misfortune of being matched up against Austin. But make no mistake, Mike's team is no slouch. Falling just short of a 2K-point season, Mike has had Drake Maye be a breakout star for his lineup to compliment JSN and Nico Collins in an air-raid approach. His weakness, by far, are his RBs. In his first playoff appearance since he won the title in 2022, he'll need to have a strong performance to walk away with any postseason cash.
